In the spring, roadsides and open fields are dotted with colorful wildflowers, from the Indian Paintbrush to the Texas state flower, the Bluebonnet. The Canyonlands is the City of Lakeway’s newest park. The Canyonlands is a 20-acre tract named for the scenic canyon running through the property. This canyon is the upper reaches of the Rough Hollow Cove, a major arm of Lake Travis. The scenery of the canyon from the overlooks is breathtaking. In late fall, the foliage is spectacular with shades of yellow, gold, brown, orange, and red. Early spring brings a new riot of color as the new leaves sprout out on the deciduous trees in the canyon.

“While Lakeway may be a smaller community, we continue to be recognized on a much larger scale. For three out of the last four years, the Lakeway Activity Center earned an award for excellence in programming from the Learning Resources Network, an international association of lifelong learning.” Mayor DeOme wrote. The Activity Center staff continually strives to provide the community with new and innovative programming for all ages. Adult educational opportunities include art and fitness programs, two-step, big band and Zumba classes, language courses, defensive driving and landscape design, just to name a few. Our younger patrons enjoy such activities as make and take cookery, Abrakadoodle, Legos with learning fun, fencing, Soccer shots, tae kwon do, Kinderdance, Sportball and Touchdown Kids.

The Lakeway Activity Center also offers spring break and summer camps to accommodate family needs and is available for facility rentals for weddings, receptions, birthday parties and your favorite gathering.
